Final Design
With my design revisions made, I fully built out the playse web app. playse is a radio-style music player that offers users a unique listening session each time they visit the site.
- On load, the app picks a random start point and will play an infinite loop of over 30 hours of music.
- Users can pause and resume playback within a session but refreshing the site will start playback at a new random point.
- The app intentionally blocks users from skipping songs or scrubbing through a section of audio to promote new music discovery and thought-free listening.
- The UI updates every time a song changes to reflect the “now playing” song title and artist.
- The links to add the current song to the user’s library also update on each track change to allow users to easily add the song to their Apple Music or Spotify library.
I used ChatGPT to generate all the HTML, Javascript and CSS needed for the backend functionality and frontend interface. The site is hosted using Github pages and streams audio that I manually recorded and uploaded to Cloudflare R2 storage. The platform is built to support future growth by simply uploading new audio recordings to R2 and adding one line of HTML to my codebase.
